About me*
I have spent 18 years in the software industry designing systems, integrating heterogeneous architectures, promoting open source and inner source strategies, and contributing to European technology policy. My academic interests sit at the intersection of software resilience, antifragility, and agile methodologies.
I had the honor to:
-
contribute to the first European Open Source Software Strategy (2020–2023) for the European Commission back in 2019.
-
serve amazing Software as a Service oriented companies (currently: Instashop, ex: Toggl) as an Engineering Manager.
*If I was a D&D character I would be a lawful neutral, half-elf, cross-class engineer / manager :)
What I believe about "the craft".
The modern digital landscape is plagued by an obsession with needless complexity, frequently misinterpreting sheer volume for actual capability. True maturity (whether in the architecture of software systems, the execution of product strategies, or the design of a digital presence) is discovered only through the deliberate elimination of noise.
A highly optimised enterprise does not require endless layers of fragmentation. It demands a single, unified plane where every component earns its place through modular autonomy and absolute clarity. By embracing strict constraints, we force a relentless focus on what truly matters: clean interfaces, precise boundaries, and frictionless execution.
Efficiency is entirely redefined; it ceases to be a measure of doing more, transforming instead into the art of creating a framework so utterly precise that friction becomes structurally impossible, allowing the enterprise to move with maximum speed and absolute certainty.
How I got here
-
12006 — 2008
Internship & BSc Thesis
Got my first job as an intern to HELLENiQ ENERGY (previously Hellenic Petroleum S.A.). I was introduced in the works of a structured, industrial level I.T. department and had the pleasure of designing a software prototype for the refinery function, as part of my bachelor thesis.
-
22008 — 2014
Early career in software engineering
The Individual Contributor / Software House years. Began developing software for EU-funded research projects. In parallel I built my first small digital solutions projects for small businesses in Greece.
-
32014 — 2021
Founding a Digital Solutions Agency
The Entrepreneurial era. The 2-person software house turned to a 12-person 360 degree digital solutions agency offering custom software / e-commerce solutions and digital marketing services. I served as the CTO. Exited in 2021.
-
42021 — now
Engineering Manager & ICT Independent Expert
Got my Ph.D. in Open Source Software Resilience. Served both bootstrap (Toggl) and startup (Instashop) software companies as an Engineering Manager. Following my involvement in EU Open Source Software Strategy 2020-2023, I continue to support the European Commission in technical strategy and policy making to the best of my abilities.
